Lenore Cooney has more than three decades of experience including research, analysis and communications support for the Abbott Fund around maternal and child health programs in India, Cambodia and Vietnam, as well as assignments for the AbbVie Foundation around Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV and treatment for mothers of HIV-positive infants in programs administered by Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative and AMPATH Kenya. Specifically in the field of sexual and reproductive health, Lenore has

  • worked on domestic and global health policy issues and infectious diseases for three decades, including  STDs
  • provided HIV product marketing support and advocacy and extensive work in policy, advocacy and marketing support for vaccines for infants, adolescents and adults
  • was involved in community engagement efforts around Thai trials of the first experimental HIV vaccine to demonstrate effect of clinical significance
  • developed a number of programs focused on influencing and promoting recommendations for immunisation for additional at-risk groups by the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).  Included in that effort was work that resulted in recommendations for immunization of pregnant women by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as ACIP.
