Developing Organisational Strategy

Sometimes you don’t just need a contractor, you need someone to come and work with your internal team as an equal. You need someone who can act as an insider but retain the questioning mind and the impartiality of an outsider.

Baird’s CMC and its partners have been part of integrated strategy teams at foundations, multilaterals and pharmaceutical companies.

We have been the trusted advisers for governments, heads of state and top-level executives.

What we’ve done

  • Work with an in-house team on strategy on long-acting HIV formulations for a major pharmaceutical company. The work included a full environmental survey, stakeholder classification and assessment of the impact of likely developments over the next five years
  • For four years, convening and co-chairing a pharmaceutical company’s internal communications and public affairs team on HIV issues across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Canada
  • Work with PATH and an in-house team to assess the success of a public-private partnership and to map future opportunities, for the (UK) Department for International Development
  • Developing recommendations on securing rapid access to hepatitis C treatment in middle-income countries and then refined the recommendations in cooperation with the client’s own regional and national teams

Developing strategy entirely within the echo chamber is impossible.

Bringing in recent MBA grads means you may end up completing their education rather than your strategy.

With Baird’s CMC, you get very experienced senior strategists who understand how to be part of internal teams without being co-opted into the assumptions made by the internal culture.
