PATH an international NGO needed help in sharing the learnings, findings and achievements from Sure Start, one of the world’s largest interventions trials. It aimed to improve maternal and neonatal health programmes in two Indian states.
The Baird’s CMC team designed and executed an elaborate communications and policy engagement strategy to reach out to a number of different key audiences. The programme of action entailed understanding the national public health policy landscape and mapping key stakeholders, policy makers, policy influencers and key opinion leaders. It also entailed working with academic researchers and the project team to publish and disseminate credible evidence of success in the implementation models, as well as insights into what did not work as well.
A range of high quality communication materials were developed that included policy briefs, brochures, a website, a substantial presence on Web platforms and in social media and articles in the mainstream press. As a result of this activity, donor organisations, academics, civil society leaders and policy makers became enthusiastic supporters of Sure Start.
